Nigerian Dwarf

Nigerian Dwarf  Goats are a miniature dairy goat originated from West Africa.  A mature Nigerian measures 17”-19” for a doe & 19”-21” for a buck. The ideal weight is about 75lbs. They are still considered rare according to the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has also approved it as a livestock dairy goat, which allows it to be a 4H & FFA project.

Nigerians are capable of producing up to 2 quarts of milk a day. Their milk  consists of  6-10% butterfat & is higher in protein than other dairy goat breeds. Their milk is ideal for butter, cheese, & ice cream. Plus many breeders use their milk for a variety of bath projects.

Nigerians come in every color & pattern.  Due to their size & gentle temperaments they are easily handled by small children. Plus they require less space & feed compared to the larger dairy goats. A herd of grazing Nigerians will greatly improve a pasture by removing brush & plants that other livestock will not eat & their droppings make a great fertilizer.

Registered stock cost between $200-$500.  Ours are registered with AGS (American Goat Society), NDGA (Nigerian Dwarf Goat Association), & ADGA (American Dairy Goat Association.
